YOUR REVIEWS

Reviews are an author's lifeblood. Without them, other people don't get to hear about how great a book is. If you love a book, please take a minute to write a quick line on your thoughts. Here's a selection of reviews I have been lucky enough to receive for THE PERFECT FRIEND from readers, bloggers and the national press.

THE GIRL IN THE MISSING POSTER, the sensational new psychological thriller by international bestseller Barbara Copperthwaite
'I felt Stella’s relentless urge to know what had happened to Leila all those years ago, and as the story unfolded, so did the emotions. It had such a real feel to it because of the way it was written. The cat and mouse elements were haunting and eerie. They had me feeling creeped out on many occasions.' CARLA KOVACH

'Every single person was a suspect to me in this book; I loved the slow build up of events and the secrets being peeled back. Stella is a dog behaviourist and I found that a refreshing addition to the story, she “reads” those around her just as she does her clients.' ELLEN reviewing for BIBLIOPHILE BOOK CLUB
'OMG Barbara is back with a bang! She has absolutely nailed it! Not only is the story full of tension and suspense, you can feel the emotions of the characters. Barbara definitely hasn’t lost her touch. In fact this is her best book yet!' BAKERS NOT SO SECRET BLOG

'With the feel of true crime, conspiracy theories being brought to attention and documentaries being all the rage on Netflix I highly recommend giving this well executed book a read.'  MELANIE'S READS

'This was a truly addictive read. The build up in the first half was a bit of a slow burn, but once things got going…. BAM! The story is told from the perspective of Stella, with snippets of the documentary and a peppering of flashbacks. There were plenty of twists and misdirections to keep me on my toes.' 'Absolutely blimmin’ marvellous! I thoroughly enjoyed The Girl in the Missing Poster with its true crime focus and its immersive plot. The reader is drawn into Stella’s tale of – dare I say it – obsession and grief and is taken for one heck of a ride.' DAMPPEBBLES
'The tension is palpable throughout the book, the pacing perfect, keeping you on edge as Stella explores the possible leads and likely perpetrators, her emotional response keeping you entirely involved and invested. The story’s climax is quite superb, tense and gripping, with more than a few moments that have your heart racing.'

river, slowly finding it’s way
through the countryside until it suddenly it arrives at a cliff and throws itself over the top into the valley below. The suspense is taken to the maximum.'
B FOR BOOK REVIEW

'This was a gripping thriller, which not only gave us a disappearance to solve, but had lots of emotions running through the storyline also.  There were plenty of twists, turns and red herrings, and these were all wrapped up with an ending I just didn’t see coming!!'
STARDUST BOOK REVIEWS
'A story that is fiction but makes me feel like it could even be true crime, Barbara Copperthwaite has skilfully woven a story that I certainly could not put down unless I was made to!'

'I love how the story is narrated alternating between the documentary and present events. The transcripts from the documentary reminded me of True Crime shows on Netflix and IDx. I like how they revealed aspects of the case, gave us flashbacks of the night that Leila disappeared and also helped in the character development. Stella as an MC is interesting and easy to root for. The author did such an amazing job at showing her struggles with past events and present issues... an immersive plot, memorable characters and lots of intrigue... What a stunning thriller!'
A HAVEN FOR BOOK LOVERS

'Brilliantly plotted and shrewdly paced while it had more twists and curves than a rope factory. I found myself holding my breath while reading the intense and treacherous written exchanges between the murderer and obsessed sister of his long-ago victim. '

'Barbara’s climatic ending basically left me speechless! It was one of the best endings I have ever read. It was one of the most powerful endings that came out of nowhere.

The Girl In The Missing Poster has a Netflix series written all over it! Oh what an amazing series that would make! '
