After popping in to the blogger & authors meeting, Three Wise Men had another appointment…
I’ve just realised that I haven’t blogged about my wonderful Sunday yet. The fabulous Kim Nash, who is a bookaholic in her spare time, and marketing guru for publishers Bookouture for a living, organised a get-together for book bloggers and authors. Even better, it was in my hometown of Birmingham.
The writing world is a fairly small one, as we get to know one another a little over Facebook, one another’s blogs, and Twitter, but I still felt a little nervous going along. It’s one thing ‘chatting’ via social media, another meeting face to face. I needn’t have worried, though. As soon as I entered Bacchus, the venue, I could hear the laughter and chatter coming from the group. It was a slightly surreal moment, recognising so many people from their tiny profile photographs, but it felt like chatting to old friends. In fact, author Elaine Spires threw her arms open wide and gasped: ‘Barbara Copperthwaite, how wonderful to meet you!’ and gave me a huge hug. How lovely is that?
As well as familiar faces, there were also others I didn’t recognise. We all talked about the best books we’d ever read, the joys of blogging, compared notes on what it’s like being an author, and swapped tips. I got some really great ideas from Three Wise Men who’d popped along, and I’m so glad I met them.
Thanks to Kim and everyone for a wonderful Sunday!
Can YOU spot today’s Christmas-related number in this blog? If you can, email it to invisibleauthor@outlook.com to enter my competition – and YOU could have a character named after you in my next novel!
MORE WAYS TO WIN!
Three lucky people will have characters named after them in my next novel. They might be a baddie, or a nosy neighbour, they might even be bumped off, who can say, but they could have YOUR name.
To be in with a chance of winning this unique prize, all you have to do is take part in my Christmas countdown search. Every day for a fortnight I’ll be hiding a Christmas-related number in a post on this blog, or somewhere over on my website www.barbaracopperthwaite.com All you have to do to enter is email me that days’s number (e.g., I might randomly mention seeing ‘seven swans aswimming’, so the answer would be 7) at invisibleauthor@outlook.com
You can enter as many times as you like. The more days you take part, the more entries you’ll accrue – so the greater your chance of winning!
I’ll also be running similar competitions across Twitter (you can follow me @BCopperthwait) and my Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/Author BarbaraCopperthwaite) and you’re free to enter those as many times as you like, too.
Over on Facebook, every day for a fortnight I’ll be posting a fun, easy question based either on Christmas, me, or my books. Just ‘like’ the post and leave your (correct!) answer in the comments section, and you’ll be entered into the prize draw.
Over at Twitter, you simply have to retweet me using the hashtag #FlowersForTheDead. Each retweet is an entry and, again, you can enter as often as you want.
Good luck to everyone!
* The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve
